I believe egg nog is made from the yolk and has no white in it, may also have preservatives which would not be in a raw egg.

Many years ago, eggnog may have contained raw egg, these days all egg nogs commercially produced need to be fully pastuerized. In the case of home made egg nog, I always cook the mixture to a safe temperature when I make it, so it is almost like a creme anglaise, or custard, but much, much thinner, and drinkable.

Raw egg has a high probability of containing salmonella bacteria, and I would not risk eating or drinking raw eggs.

To the guy that said there’s no egg in egg nog…um you’re the dumb ***! LOL! Why do you think they call it EGG NOG! Why don’t YOU read the ingredient list….one of the first items is egg yolks! Duh!

I said ONE of the first items…..never said it was the first one. Point being there is eggs in egg nog! Doesn’t matter if it’s the first one or not……

My family makes egg nog at Christmas. My one aunt always makes hers with raw eggs and another makes it from a mix. No one has ever gotten sick from either one, but I actually don’t let my kids drink the raw egg version.
