I am 5 months pregnant and coming up on the holiday season. I know that raw eggs are a no-no for pregnant women. However, does the store bought egg nog really have raw eggs in it??? Or are they cooked/pasteruized, something??

Has anyone been advised by their OB/GYN about not drinking store bought egg nog? I have an appointment in 2 weeks and plan to ask, but just curious for now.

My doc said in most cases store-bought eggnog is OK because the eggs are pasturized.

Actually if you check the labels, they will tell you if it’s pasturized or not. :)

I was told store bought egg nog is okay, as long as it’s pasteurized.

Most store bought eggnog should be pasteurized…it’ll say in the ingredient list…just double check before buying. (it’ll likely say something like ‘pasteurized egg product’)

I am pretty sure that the store bought is safe for pregnant women…read the label at the store maybe it should say ‘pasteurized eggs’
Good idea to ask doc first though! :)
