Hello! I can’t find a “recipe” for simple syrup and I just want to make sure I make it correctly. Is it a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water? Does it need to be heated to help the sugar dissolve? Do you need to use superfine sugar? Thank you!

For every cup of sugar, use a cup of water. You need to heat this mixture. Bring it just to a boil. Make sure sugar is dissolved. Cool completely, use as desired.
I used to use simple syrup all the time when I baked.

It’s concentrated lemonade, for Chrissake! Just adjust to taste, and you’ll be fine. There’s no need to go obsessing. And if you use warm water it’ll make it easier for plain granulated sugar to dissolve, but you’ll get there no matter how you start.
